(October 5, 2008) — In a show of support for its top-selling creator-owned title, Devil’s Due Publishing will distribute the previously solicited Hack/Slash issues 16 and 17 directly, rather than through Diamond Comic Distributors. The decision follows Diamond’s receipt of a Cease and Desist letter regarding the issues from an unknown, recently registered company, Re-Animator, LLC, in connection with Dynamite Entertainment’s Nick Barrucci. Hack/Slash #15 will be available for re-order as well. Tags: devils due publishing, hack slash

The final issue of what was to be the biggest GI Joe event in the 25 year history is also the final issue published by DDP. With the end of the World War 3 arc comes some good moments that leaves me wondering how this arc really would have ended if DDP were keeping the license. Oh well. What we get, in reality, is a really great extra sized comic with some outstanding action moments, a couple of twists and some really inconsistent art. 07:55:28 pm, by ComicList Categories: Reviews, Devil’s Due Publishing, Geek Goggle Reviews ![]() Brandon Borzelli's Geek Goggle Reviews GI Joe America’s Elite #35 GI Joe turns the tables on Cobra. This issue is the second to last for the twelve issue arc, as well as the second to last GI Joe comic for DDP. I can understand that with the transferring of the license to IDW, that DDP cant really kill off any main characters or otherwise destroy assets that are about to change hands. However, this arc really feels like all the air was sucked out of it with this issue. The slow build now has a rush to wrap up feel to it. I cant say I totally disliked the issue, but this is no where near the caliber we have seen from this arc. It’s a victim of its own consistency that this story is a letdown. The kind folks at Devil's Due Publishing have supplied ComicList with their solicitations for comics and other products featured in the June 2008 Previews, scheduled to ship August 2008. "You're going to see a lot of new faces at DDP in August on our new solicitations . As we announced at New York Comic Con this year, Heroes star Milo Ventimiglia's new series Rest is going to be kicking off. Additionally, we've got the first series from our new line of books based on Capcom video games -- Bionic Commando! As you might have read recently in Variety , none other than screenwriter Justin Marks is coming on board to write Bionic Commando. Justin recently worked on the screenplay for Street Fighter: The Legend of Chun-Li and is currently working on the screenplay for Hack/Slash, so we couldn't be more excited to see him coming over write at DDP. You're going to have to see the solicitations to see everything we have going on -- from Jeffrey Brown's first Incredible Change-Bots transformable vinyl toys to a Hack/Slash crossover with The Re-Animator and the all-new creator-owned title Mercy Sparx from DDP President Josh Blaylock. Of course, this is all in addition to the Dungeons & Dragons, Drafted and Voltron action you already knew was coming. So check out what we've got landing in August, and get ready for some spectacular comics." |
