Part Eight in the New Krypton arc sees one of the main Kryptonians “die” which only fuels the divide among the Kryptonians. The comic’s real story here is outlining the failures of Superman and Supergirl to assimilate the people of Kandor to Earth. The comic sets up an ugly ending that probably means more Zod.

New Krypton rolls on and the cast grows in this issue, as does the action. This issue advances some of the ideas the villains have in mind for Superman and his fellow Kryptonians. We also see that Supergirl’s mother isn’t totally on the up and up either. This issue has plenty of action and really puts Superman in an impossible spot. He’s wanted by an awful lot of people and he doesn’t seem to have a lot of cohorts to help out. In fact, the cliffhanger has some of his friends getting ready to hunt down the Kryptonians.

You don’t need this issue if you are reading the New Krypton arc. That isn’t to say I was upset I purchased this story, but to be fair I couldn’t care less about Supergirl. She feels unnecessary and makes it that much more difficult to match up worthy villains with Superman. However, I found the content of the issue to be executed very well and if you are into the character I can’t imagine you not liking this issue.
