Marvel Universe Vs Wolverine #3Marvel Universe Vs Wolverine #3 Of 4
Marvel Comics
Maberry, Campbell & Loughridge

Wolverine is still trying to help save the world as more and more heroes fall to the plague. This is the big issue where everything falls apart for the heroes. I won't spoil which heroes turn or what happens to them but there is a lot of blood in this issue as you probably figured would eventually happen. Maberry continues to show a great command of Wolverine and his voice during a crisis like this. Overall, this continues to be a fun and entertaining read living up to the level of its predecessor.

PunisherMAX #13PunisherMax #13
MAX Comics (Marvel Comics)
Aaron, Dillon & Hollingsworth

PunisherMax moves into the second part of the arc titled, "Frank". It's no secret that this is one of best books I read each month and this issue is simply no different. However, this issue manages to bring a couple of new things to the table from the previous dozen PunisherMax books which makes this issue stand out a bit more than usual. Jason Aaron continues to break his way into new ground for a character that seemed tapped when Garth Ennis ended his run a few years ago. This is just a great read all around.

PunisherMAX #11PunisherMax #11
Max (Marvel Comics)
Aaron, Dillon & Hollingsworth

Aaron wraps up the "Bullseye" arc with a no-holds-barred epic battle between the Punisher and Bullseye. This issue keeps the reader guessing on the outcome. Sure, you pretty much know that the Punisher isn't going to die but that's really all you can be sure of. Even then, Aaron puts Frank through the ringer in a bad way. This issue is a fantastic read and while I found myself frustrated with part of the outcome, it made me very impatient for the next issue to ship. Generally, that means the issue is something special and that is the case here.

Marvel Universe vs. The Punisher #4Marvel Universe vs. The Punisher #4 of 4
Marvel Comics
Maberry, Parlov & Loughridge

With the conclusion of this futuristic, alternate timeline story we get an epic ending. The comic book starts off fast and doesn't let up for a second. If for some reason you had reservations about this being just another mini series set in the future you are wrong. This is on the same level as Future Imperfect in my opinion or even a more concise version of something more recent like Old Man Logan. This is the perfect example of having an idea, keeping the story moving and bringing the story to a conclusion that seems likely for the character and keeps the reader guessing or surprised by the outcome. I was very glad I gave this series a try.

Punisher MAX Hot Rods Of Death #1PunisherMax: Hot Rods of Death #1
MAX Comics (Marvel Comics)
Huston, Martinbrough & Loughridge

Another random Punisher one shot hits this week and we find ourselves another nod to a movie (or two) and we find ourselves back at the five dollar price point. Normally I would assume this is a recipe for disaster as I found myself cranky before I even opened the pages. There is something to be said for exceeding expectations because I found the story to be different and enjoyable. It's obviously not essential reading but it is a fun story about the Punisher that is to be digested in a one sitting. I rather liked this story.

Marvel Universe Vs The Punisher #3Marvel Universe vs The Punisher #3 of 4

This instant classic future story rolls on with more surprises. The Punisher finds out exactly what Patient Zero wants and then figures out that not everything is all that clear. Frank walks into a trap, but is it one he can't get out of? Does he want to get out of it? This issue sets the stage for what is sure to be a bloody and excellent ending to this fantastic mini series that takes the story in unexpected directions.

Marvel Universe Vs The Punisher #2Marvel Universe Versus The Punisher #2 of 4
Marvel Comics
Maberry, Parlov & Loughridge

This series is heating up in a big way with this issue. The Punisher finds some regular humans which pushes his mission into different territory. Not only does Frank meet up with some people that he needs to save but he is also confronted with what seems to be the main villain. However, the issue isn't without some more fighting as Frank crosses paths with some other former heroes or villains that he needs to take out because they are infected. The series is picking up steam and is becoming something more than just an alternate reality or an out-of-continuity futuristic story. This is very good and very entertaining.

Marvel Universe vs. Punisher #1Punisher vs The Marvel Universe #1 of 4

Punisher meets 28 Days Later in the land of I Am Legend is the best way to summarize the premise of the latest Punisher mini series. Essentially the world is falling apart and the Punisher is left to deal with the masses, good or bad. The idea, in theory, sounds like it would be for a niche audience or a completist. However, the story is actually very entertaining and worth checking out if you like stories set in wasteland futures. This isn't just another Marvel Zombie story. And thankfully it doesn't contain vampires. Not yet anyway.
