This is the big finale of the long, sweeping arc that changed the landscape of the Ape and Human culture. This issue provides an excellent climax to the lives of Bako, Kale, Alaya, Sullivan and her baby. The comic book pushes the story forward 10 years at the end to pick up the strands that were left in the wake of this issue's shocking ending. It's a great ending (this part of the story) to what has been a great book. The future of the title looks very promising, but I urge you to read the previous eleven issues before picking this book up. The emotional impact is slightly lessened if you haven't followed these characters around for the full run.

Boom's second mini-series that leads up to the events of the original film hits this week with an issue that sets up the latest problem, and delivers a terrific cliffhanger, to bring you back for more next month. The book captures the look and mood of the original film perfectly. The interesting component of this issue is that the events take place 18 years before the movie, but with the cliffhanger it really is hard to imagine how we get from point A to point B. The joy is reading that story's execution and it continues in this comic book.

Planet of the Apes has been a book that has been pumping out issue after issue of political drama, snippets of war and character-driven conflicts. This issue everything comes together. I can't say that everything has been driving towards this particular story, but it sure seems like nothing is going to be the same after this issue. The book was very good until the last page when this issue was elevated to great. If you are fan of the franchise or any sort of war, science fiction or just drama comic then this is the book for you.

Planet of the Apes is approaching epic atmosphere as this issue begins to tell some of the backstory of the main characters. The backstory is told from three separate perspectives in a very clever way. This issue doesn't move a lot forward with Sullivan but the human fugitives on the run are dealt with in a decisive fashion. Once again this is a comic book that uses tight storytelling along with grand visuals to make for a very entertaining read. I definitely recommend reading this issue.

Perhaps the most consistent read month-to-month is the Planet of the Apes. This issue brings a lot of plot development in several directions as the war leans towards the humans again. The book has the uncanny ability to string together a good story while always leaving a good cliffhanger to bring you back for more the next month. This issue doesn't contain a ton of action but it does manage to show more of the brutality of the war. This is another good issue in this series.

The war is heating up as the humans and apes continue to jockey for positioning. Voice Alaya is slowly manipulating the apes to serve her purposes while the humans, in various factions, are trying to figure out how to combat the apes on multiple fronts. What's clear with this issue is that the apes are organized and have the capacity to plan whereas the humans are divided and trying to battle in too large of a scope. It's an entertaining read as usual and I like the long-term prospects for this arc and series.

Planet of the Apes continues to be a solid read month in and month out. As the war continues to escalate this issue takes a step back to explain some of what came before. At the same time the current timeline opens up the universe a bit as we begin to move to the outskirts of the ghetto city, Skintown. Overall, this issue inches the plot threads forward collectively but we really get some character growth on the human front. Overall, this is another solid effort in this franchise.

The second arc begins, seamlessly, where the first arc of Planet of the Apes left off. This issue starts off with some acts of war peppered here and there but the issue ends in a shocking way as the apes show their way of dealing with the humans. It’s a very good issue and when you factor in that the first arc’s trade is available the same day as this issue and that this issue is only a buck, you’d be hard pressed to not give this issue a shot.
