The twist this time around is that it’s the present day heroes against the versions of themselves from the 1970s. You might think this sounds boring, but it really isn’t. The real twist here is finding out who is a Skrull. ![]() Brandon Borzelli's Geek Goggle Reviews Cable #3 The third issue of this series brings a new character for Cable to interact with. It also brings more questions about “how” and “why”. One refreshing aspect of the story telling actually has me rooting for both Cable and Bishop. Still the series just feels like it isn’t fully clicking all together. 05/04/08 ![]() Brandon Borzelli's Geek Goggle Reviews Ultimate Human #4 of 4 This issue wraps up the short mini series with plenty of action. No, it doesn’t pit Iron Man versus Hulk or Iron Man and Hulk versus the Leader. Instead, Iron Man doesn’t even appear. Actually an Iron Man suit appears but not with Tony Stark in it. Anyway, this issue provides a nice kick to end the series. I liked it, but didn’t love it. 05/02/08 09:29:37 am, by ComicList Categories: Dark Horse Comics, DC Comics, Marvel Comics, Reviews, Geek Goggle Reviews ![]() Brandon Borzelli's Geek Goggle Reviews Here are this week's comics ranked both prior to purchase and then after one reading. Unfortunately for this one it starts off on a couple of bad feet. It’s a fairly tame story that illustrates more about how everyone screws over the Hulk and shows how the Herc-ster isn’t really a pure good guy. I’m not sure we learned anything new about either character in this story. Perhaps the hope is if someone is reading one title and not the other they might get some cross pollination. As you can I’m struggle with why this exists. 04/28/08 ![]() Brandon Borzelli's Geek Goggle Reviews Uncanny X-Men #497 We get a nice split in this issue of action from the X-Men in Russia along with the X-Men in San Francisco. We have some investigations on the one hand and a good old-fashioned battle on the other. It’s a really good issue. Sure, it wont be ranked among the greatest X-Men stories ever, but it’s making good use of classic characters in a story that is interesting, but not in a save the world kind of way. |
