Indiana Jones And The Tomb Of The Gods #4 of 4
Dark Horse Comics
Williams & Sears
The finale of the short four issue mini series brings to the table a mixture of satisfaction and disappointment. There are points in the issue that just don’t bring this story to any closure and yet, there are moments in this comic that brought Indy to life in more ways than any of the previous three issues. The long delays in the series probably didn’t help but the change in artist for this issue certainly didn’t look terribly noticeable. Sure there could be some carryover bitterness because of the delay but I really think the issue just didn’t really pull off a great ending to match the front end of the series.

Indiana Jones And The Tomb Of The Gods #3 of 4
Dark Horse Comics
Williams, Scott & Massengill
In the penultimate chapter of this mini series we see very little in terms of plot moving, but that just means the finale will have everything including in it. Instead, we have Jones escaping death and plenty of banter and character moments to set up the finale. It’s a good issue but not the best in this series.

Probably like a lot of people I complain about comics coming out late. I don’t usually take the step of not purchasing it when it does come out and as a result I am usually happy with the outcome to the point of forgiveness for the tardiness. I have no idea why it’s taken months for this second issue to come out as opposed to its original shipping date in June, but I loved the issue nonetheless. It’s got action, information, some surprises, great artwork and a cliffhanger. All while staying true to the first couple of movies. It’s a fantastic comic book.

Indiana Jones finally gets himself a new series. This one delivers on every front with some small exceptions. This issue provides a strong plot, a fast paced issue and great artwork. I can’t emphasize how great the artwork is.

This week is the premier of the new Indiana Jones movie. To accompany it, Dark Horse released the comic adaptation in trade format. They also released part one (of two) of the exact same adaptation on the same day as the trade. Why buy half the story when you can buy the whole thing? Knowing I wouldn’t be seeing the movie in the first couple of weekends I decided to pick up the trade. I realize the comic can’t capture the same level of action and excitement as the movie, but let me tell you, this comic is very good.
