Incognito: Bad Influences #1
Icon Comics (Marvel Comics)
Brubaker & Phillips
The second mini series of Incognito starts off with this issue as we get reacquainted with the lead character, Zack. Zack is now a good guy. Well, I guess more accurately he's someone who should be in witness protection, but because he doesn't want to give up his powers he's being put to work. This issue is a terrific introduction to this small universe and a couple of the characters in it. You get a great mix of noir and pulp with perfect art to back it up.

Incognito #6
Icon (Marvel Comics)
Brubaker & Phillips
The finale of the first mini series of Incognito goes out with a lot of action and plenty of plot resolution. The issue is an oversized story and makes use of all of the space as it tries to completely tie off this story. It's a good issue and a good story. However, when reading it I was trying to figure out where I would place alongside the Criminal or Sleeper stories as it seems to be naturally grouped among them. While they shouldn't be taken into account in reviewing this particularly issue, it does factor in to how this arc will stand up over time. I liked it and I think there something in here for fans of Criminal as well as others who may have never read Sleeper or Criminal before.

Incognito #4
Icon Comics (Marvel)
Brubaker & Phillips
Incognito makes its return after a couple of months break with a complex plot twist. Up until now the lead character (along with almost every character) has been virtually unlikable. In some ways you want him to do some bad things but you don’t mind watching him suffer a little bit because of the bad things he does. However, in this issue he basically goes from playing both sides to both sides playing him. He’s now hunted and he really can’t trust anyone, yet everyone is telling him to trust them. It’s a good issue that puts the lead character in a new perspective.

Here are this week’s comics ranked prior to reading them:
7. Action Comics #874
6. Batman #686
5. GI Joe #2
4. Green Lantern Corps #33
3. Incognito #2
2. Wolverine Manifest Destiny #4 of 4
1. Walking Dead #58
Tough week to rate as I think the order could have gone any way depending on a number of minor things. That makes for a solid and enjoyable week of comics. Here’s how things shook out after the first read through with a mini-review:

Incognito #2

The first issue was about introducing the characters, but this issue begins to introduce a plot and puts the characters on their way to some interesting collisions. As is the case with Criminal, this series is picking up steam with the second issue and throws in some good curve balls to make sure you aren’t too confident in the outcome. The “bad” guys are also starting to take some shape here. This is a very good issue.

I also picked up a copy of Incognito from last week. I wouldn’t put it at number one though because this week’s number one was amazing.
