Rasputin launches with an oversized issue for $3.50. The comic book starts off with the beginning to the evening in which the lead character is killed off but then goes into a flashback for the remainder of the comic book. There isn't much story in this comic book as it relies heavily on the artwork, which delivers perfectly. The idea for the comic book is an interesting one but I am not sure there is enough in here to draw me back for more. This is worth checking out.

Walking Dead charges along as the tension builds and the action gets heavy. This issue reveals the threat facing Rick and company. While the concept of folks getting isolated and picked off one at a time isn't new to this series, the execution feels fresh but is far from perfect. This is a step towards some great conflicts and shaking things up. This is a good read all the way around and worth picking up.

Deadly Class provides an origin issue with this book. This is out of character for how this series has been going so far, but this is definitely a straight up origin comic book. Marcus decides to let his friend in on the danger they all are to face in the coming issues. He does this by handing over his journal. The journal outlines Marcus' encounter with the individual that has been haunting them for the past few issues. The book is violent, but elegant. It's bloody but tactful. It's vindicating but ironic. The book is definitely one to pick up, even if you haven't read an issue of this series yet.

Snyder, Jock & Hollingsworth

Scott Snyder is a pretty good horror comic book writer. This is his latest launch with his old collaborator, Jock, on art. This book explores the idea of evil in the woods that will give you anything you desire, whether you ask them or not, but it comes with a very high price. The book is over-sized and priced at three bucks, which makes this a no-brainer as to whether or not you should pick it up.

This comic book is fantastic. It's a fast paced read that clocks in at thirty-pages for only three bucks. The comic book is unique but has a familiar enough setup to it that makes the book surprising but relatable. The artwork is also very good for this story, especially the fantastical elements of it. This is definitely one to seek out this week as it is sure to be a big hit.

Walking Dead rolls on with an issue devoted almost entirely to fighting against zombies. This is something we haven't seen in a long time and that is a welcome site at this point in the new direction for the book. It's a clever issue too as it explores the whole idea that zombies can talk now. The book seems to be turning towards a new set of villains to deal with and that is probably overdue. This is a pretty good comic book, but by Walking Dead standards it's an above average book.

Outcast By Kirkman And Azaceta #4Outcast #4

Kirkman & Azaceta

The fourth issue of Outcast begins to bring together the strands from the previous two issues as more of the origin story is revealed and some of the overall plot is moved forward. However, this comic continues to tease events rather than bringing the goods to the issue at hand as was done in the first issue. When an issue inches a plot forward, such as the case with this one, it becomes paramount that the characters carry the comic book. Unfortunately the lead character is probably the least interesting among the cast, which makes this read more of a necessary evil to getting the comic book to a spot where the cool stuff can happen. A decent read but nothing as special as the first issue.

Frampton

Oddly Normal was published way back in 2006 as a graphic novel and is apparently being re-released as single comic books here in 2014 in preparation for the continuation of the series with new material. The Otis Frampton written and illustrated book is an all ages comic book that feels like a good fit for whatever the age or gender of the reader. There seems to be plenty of room for this kind of comic book in the market and a better one couldn't have been picked to reprint as single issues.
