All-New X-Men #2All-New X-Men #2
Marvel Comics
Bendis, Immonen, Von Grawbadger & Gracia

This comic book is certainly shaping up to be a fun read. I wouldn't have thought a book that is relying on time travel to be a good book, especially because of the gimmicky nature of it, but this comic is showing some real promise. This book takes the five original X-Men and zooms them to the present time. As you might expect, the two casts have a hard time understanding what the other is all about. It's a very well-crafted issue that makes use of the confusion but keeps fine focus on the overall story. This was a good read.

Beast from the future (known as Blue Beast) finally convinces Jean, Scott, Hank, Bobby and Warren to travel to the future with him in order to help convince the future Scott that his actions aren't rational. The great part about the convincing is how Blue Beast reveals some, but not all, of the details. Eventually the original X-Men simply can't pass this up and they join Blue Beast on the journey.

Ordinarily I would have guessed that Bendis would have taken a full issue, or even an arc, to go through the whole Blue Beast tries to convince the youngsters conversations. However, Bendis wastes little time getting the cast to the present and that pacing is a welcome aspect of the comic book.

The rest of the issue is a little bit of the fish out of water routine, but that is short lived. The young cast takes it upon themselves to ditch the older X-Men in search of answers, which means this book is going to stay on a fast pace. This is definitely appealing to me.

Brandon Borzelli's Geek Goggle ReviewsThe artwork is very good. The book has some magnificent panel layouts and the art is very robust throughout the issue. The characters have very unique looks to them as this helps with some of the duplicate characters. The book has a lot of discussions and little action but the artwork is up to the challenge. This is a good visual book.

This comic book is driving towards a very compelling story. It will be interesting to see how this storyline gets resolved when it's all said and done. This means the comic book is working because as a reader I am planning to stick with the book long term. I recommend checking this out.
