Deadpool gets married in this enormous comic book that comes at you with eighty pages of story for the ridiculously over-priced amount of ten dollars. Contained within the comic is a twenty page lead-in story from the regular creative team where Deadpool gets married. The rest of the comic contains small stories about Deadpool's marriages or near-miss ones. Most of the small stories come in at five pages a piece while packing a who's who of creators. The book is a lot of Deadpool doing a lot of the same stuff over and over again. I can't say the book wasn't entertaining but I can't help but think while I'm reading, "I can't believe I dropped ten bucks on 15 stories about Deadpool getting married." While enjoyable, this one is for the die-hards.

Jack Kirby is alive and well in this comic book. Deadpool periodically throws out a one-shot issue between arcs and this is one of those issues. Typically these issues place Deadpool in different eras and this one puts him in the 1960s and in a very much Jack Kirby setting and story. All of this adds up to a fantastic issue.

Deadpool isn't a comic for everyone. There's a lot of bad jokes and some marginally good stories that can sometimes get lost in the overly grotesque presentation or caricature nature of the storytelling. However, if you are into the style of this book then some of the issues really stand out among the others. This is one such issue as it's another "lost" issue that manages to place the comic's look and feel back in the 1970s but leaving the current day stamp on it. It's a very good read.

Deadpool gets a new volume and a fresh creative team to kick off as part of the Marvel NOW! promotion. I found this a good opportunity to test out a character that I have never really followed in a solo series. What I found was a decent read with an interesting enough plot that may bring me back for more. Oddly, the characterization was non-distinct in Deadpool terms, but the unoriginal take didn't hamper the book at all. It simply just felt like a generic take on the character which is perfectly acceptable. This was a decent and fun read but nothing Earth-shattering.

Deadpool #6

He’s the Crimson Comedian, the Merc with a Mouth, the Regeneratin’ Degenerate. He’s Deadpool. This week’s Dark Reign release is Deadpool #6. All we can say is that this issue is more fun than a poke in the eye with a sharp stick!
