Suspended Animation Review Batman Special #1, published by DC Comics, 48 pages, cover price $1.25. In honor of the theatrical release of The Dark Knight, I present to you one of the better Batman stories from the eighties, found in 1984's Batman Special #1. ![]() Brandon Borzelli's Geek Goggle Reviews Huntress Year One #5 of 6 After hunting for some time for the first few issues of this mini I finally got caught up and am up to schedule. This issue is excellent. As the others have been. This issue doesn’t just tell a story, but it gives a mix of symbolism and irony that tells more than just a cool story. Add in excellent artwork and you have a pretty perfect comic. When you consider that this is a story about a C list character you can only marvel at the feat. ![]() Brandon Borzelli's Geek Goggle Reviews Batman #678 Oh I am well aware that this story and this particular comic have people baffled. I’ve seen many of the arguments on the net already about how it references too much of the previous obscure parts of older issues and how it kills momentum issue to issue and on and on. However, I only read Batman during Resurrection of Ra’s Al Ghul and this arc during the last ten years or so and yet I still liked this issue. Shockingly enough I thought it made sense. THE VE GUYS SAY: It's Tuesday, but this week, we've got a catch-up review episode. It's packed with reviews, including: Walking Dead #49, Batman #676, The Goon #24, Action Comics Annual #11, Secret Invasion #2 and Nick looks at some of his Free Comic Book Day finds. Statue Reviews return with CS Moore Studio's Walking Dead and Bowen's DragonMan and The Goon. Plus Mike debuts a new segment: Without Capes with a review of Suburban Folklore. ![]() Brandon Borzelli's Geek Goggle Reviews Batman #677 The second part of the RIP storyline brings some confusion, some intrigue, a revisitation of the past and excellent art. The easy thing to do in a review for a Batman comic is to discuss the long term storyline being woven by Morrison. However, I will attempt to keep my criticism solely contained to this one issue. ![]() Brandon Borzelli's Geek Goggle Weekly Rankings For 05/29/08 Here are this week’s comics ranked prior to reading them, based upon past performance and advance information released on each issue: 8.
