Batman & Robin #16
DC Comics
Morrison, Stewart & Irving
Morrison leaves Batman and Robin with a bang as he wraps up so many plots and sub plots that have been running for years. Morrison even ties a bow on little things, such as the meaning behind the acronym R.I.P. This issue is satisfying in so many ways after reading his run for the past three or four years and wondering about some of the hidden meanings behind so many of the events. However, the issue is far from perfect. As a whole, though, this is a great read for an oversized finale to one story and the beginning of an entirely different one.

This series turned the corner in a big way in this issue. If you have been following along with Morrison's work on Batman you get, what I consider, to be a major payoff here. With the Joker's involvement in the issue we get the dots connected. It's great stuff all around as the pieces (or dominoes) get put into place. This was an excellent read.

Batman & Robin #12
DC Comics
Morrison & Clarke
If you are looking for a comic book that entertains while juggling half a dozen or so plates, while setting up the next major storyline you have found it with this issue. Not only does this issue push the search for Batman into forefront, but we also get a major development in Robin's characterization and if that weren't enough we get a bombshell on the last page. Oh, and Dr Hurt has some tricks up his sleeve too. A stellar issue.

Batman And Robin #11
DC Comics
Morrison, Clarke & Hanna
The Return of Bruce Wayne begins here! Well, in some respect you might be able to claim that it is inferred that Bruce is fact "here" and very active in this issue. This issue continues the clue discovery by Dick Grayson (Batman) and the problems that Damian (Robin) faces as he is attacked outside in the Wayne Manor graveyard. This is a very good issue because it begins to unfold a villain plot that seems to tie in with the missing Bruce Wayne while at the same time continues to reshape the relationships of Dick and Damian and the mysterious character Sexton. This issue proves that Morrison has larger plans than a simple six part return story that begins in June.

Batman and Robin #10
DC Comics
Morrison, Clarke & Hanna
The beginning of the return of Bruce Wayne seems to have begun in this issue. Dick Grayson (as Batman) and Bruce's son, Damian (as Robin), begin to unravel the mystery of what kinds of clues Bruce left behind in the past as to his whereabouts. It's a very clever issue that really puts on display how a detective would go about solving this mystery. The issue doesn't contain a lot of action but is still a great Batman read nonetheless.

Batman and Robin #8
DC Comics
Morrison & Stewart
The mystery of the Batman body is solved in this comic book. The current Batman (Dick) has taken Bruce Wayne's body and dipped it into the Lazarus Pit in hopes of giving Batman a rebirth. When what rises from the pit isn't exactly what Dick has in mind we get a Batman versus Batman comic book. The story has some very good elements to it. It also has some confusing ones as well, such as the random inclusion of Batwoman. However, for the most part this is an action packed issue that gives a decent story behind it. It's not one of Morrison's best efforts but it is a good comic book nonetheless.

Batman & Robin #6
DC Comics
Morrison, Tan & Glapion
Batman and Robin contend with Jason Todd while the Flamingo makes his grand entrance to take everyone out. The issue has some good elements within it but ultimately it's an average Batman and Robin comic, except the artwork doesn't help to elevate that status, but rather works against it.

Batman and Robin #5
DC Comics
Morrison, Tan & Glapion
Batman and Robin continues to impress as this issue explores the threat of the Red Hood as well as the looming threat of the Flamingo. This issue has less of the growth between Batman and Robin that we've seen in previous issues as it appears their relationship has reached a common ground. The comic does provide some good moments with Alfred that the series has lacked the first few issues. The artwork has some outstanding moments as well. Overall this is a very good issue but falls just short of the excellence we've seen in previous issues.
