Civil War II: X-Men #1
Writer: Cullen Bunn
Pencils: Andrea Braccardo

Letters: Joe Sabino
Publisher: Marvel
Release Date: 06/15/16

Marvel's sequel to 2006's Civil War is in full swing and with that of course comes the abundance of tie-ins. Amongst the onslaught of tie-ins they will always be splint into two categories, those that feel like contrived filler only to create more revenue, and those that naturally tie into the grander events. One long standing franchise that's never far from tying itself to the greater sumer event story is the X-Men. Fortunately this 4 issue mini-series has the impression that it'll be executed as the latter.

Fantastic Reads 4 U: MIGHTY THOR #7

Richard Gratton's Fantastic Reads 4 U

Mighty Thor #7
Publisher: Marvel Comics
Release Date: 05/25/16

Not everyone is a fan of Jane Foster as the god of thunder, but I am. Jane Foster as Thor is a work of genius that has yet to be fully explored. Her human frailty and more to the point, her battle with cancer – which makes her frailty that much more current and relevant – is diametrically opposed to her identity as Thor. Couple this with the gorgeous art Russell Dauterman has been producing month after month and Jason Aaron's fantastic writing, and Marvel has the makings for magical creativity for the foreseeable future.

So what the hell happened the last two months?

The Comixalaxy Reviews: CIVIL WAR II #2

Civil War II #2
Writer: Brian Michael Bendis
Pencils: David Marquez
Colors: Justin Ponsor
Letters: Clayton Cowles
Publisher: Marvel Comics
Release Date: 06/15/16

Being a comic book reader can be difficult at times given that the majority or comic series are released monthly. If a particularly issue doesn't progress the story and the narrative drive is at a snail's pace, it can become ungodly frustrating. Marvel's Civil War II thankfully is being released bi-weekly but that's still no excuse for its second installment for being a fairly uneventful issue.

Marvel's new summer event comic, Civil War II has taken off and with that comes tie-ins of course. Spider-Man, the most recognizable Marvel superhero played an integral part in the original Civil War comic, written by Mark Millar. So it comes as a surprise to no one that with that combination that a tie-in with the wall crawler was close behind.

Fantastic Reads 4 U: DAREDEVIL #7

June 10th, 2016 10:18pm by ComicList Email

Richard Gratton's Fantastic Reads 4 U

Daredevil #7
Publisher: Marvel Comics
Release Date: 06/08/16

Daredevil #7 picks up right where the previous issue left off and Charles Soule and Matteo Buffagni do a much better job this time. The characters have much more depth; the art gets better with each issue; and the story leaves us wanting more. There is even a moral dilemma. This is a solid comic that is well done and certainly worth reading.

Wonder Woman: Rebirth #1
Writer: Greg Rucka
Pencils: Matthew Clark & Liam Sharp
Colors: Jeremy Colwell & Laura Martin
Letters: Jodi Wynne
Publisher: DC Comics
Release Date: 06/08/16

If you'd grab a random person off the streets and ask them who's the most iconic super-heroine, chances are they'd say Wonder Woman. However, while everyone is aware of Princess Diana of Themyscira, odds are they couldn't tell you a lick of her origin and character. Unless you read comics there hasn't been much in the media for people to learn and become invested in the character. The exception being the 1970's Lynda Carter led TV-series. Recently she's finally made her feature film debut this March in Batman v. Superman: Dawn of Justice, while the other two of DC's big three, that being Superman and Batman, have had several appearances on the big screen. With the excitement coming out that along with her upcoming solo movie, Wonder Woman: Rebirth #1 should be used as a perfect jumping on point for both new and former readers. Does it succeed?
