Punishermax #9PunisherMax #9
MAX (Marvel Comics)
Aaron, Dillon & Hollingsworth

Punisher and Bullseye face off in this issue. Well, they meet and one person shoots while the other just observes. This comic book really adds a lot more complexity to both characters and starts to scratch the surface of their relationship with each other. The character development done here is very good but it is made great by the amazing artwork of Steve Dillon. He brings more drama and emotion to their meeting than could possibly be asked of an artist. The comic book uses the supporting characters to bring out more from the main characters which essentially replaces the need for a copious amount of thought boxes. This is an excellent comic book.

Palmiotti, Gray & Gulacy

Time Bomb is a science fiction, horror, war comic book that touches on a lot of areas that make for great stories, like World War II, time travel and population destroying plagues. This opening chapter is an excellent read because it presents the mechanism for introducing the problem, unleashes the problem and opens up the door for the potential solution while setting it in motion. This is what you get when you have fifty-one pages of story in a comic book. Sure, the price is five bucks but with this level of storytelling it is well worth it. This is a mini series definitely worth checking out.

Walking Dead #75Walking Dead #75
Image Comics
Kirkman, Adlard & Rathburn

The anniversary issue of Walking Dead asks you to pay an additional dollar for the usual twenty two page story that also contains a fun little back up story and a few photos of the TV show cast. It's worth it because the back up story is hilarious and the main story does what I thought could never be done: turns Rick into the villain. I'm not spoiling anything because this has been building for a few issues but this issue is the final straw where it seems he has totally lost his mind. The comic has other elements that help make the issue the perfect embodiment of what this series has been about from the beginning.

Muppet Snow White #3Muppet Snow White #3 of 4
Boom! Kids Comics
Snider, Storck & Paroline

The Muppets performing Snow White continues with a crazy issue that appeared to be heading towards wrapping up the mini series one issue early. How is this possible? Well, in the movie when Snow White eats the apple, the prince kisses her, wakes her up and everything is happily ever after, etc. Not here. This issue is a wild ride that leaves the ending so wide open that the book on Snow White must be thrown out. This was issue was fun topped with more fun topped with Muppet wackiness.

Hama & Padilla

Some sixteen years after the cancellation of the original GI Joe comic book series over at Marvel with issue number 155 Larry Hama is given the chance to continue his run. He simply knocks this issue out of the park. Of all of the reboots and various series that have launched by various publishers over the last ten years this is the story that I think most fans have been waiting for and it was worth the wait. Hama brings the classic GI Joe characters into a modern setting that lost none of the charm or continuity from the original series. This is an excellent start to hopefully a long run.

Cooke

Darwyn Cooke continues his adaptation of Richard Stark's catalogue of books about the character called Parker with The Man With the Getaway Face. Unlike the first adaptation, The Hunter, this book is more of a traditional comic book rather than a full graphic novel length. Despite being only twenty four pages, this story is a complete one and delivers the same level of violence in a criminal setting, just in an accelerated and concise fashion. It's an excellent read because it captures everything about the character Parker from the Hunter while telling a compelling and interesting story. At two bucks this is a can't miss opportunity to jump on board of this amazing character study that Cooke is taking the reader on.
