Wednesday Comics #1Media Release -- The first two issues of WEDNESDAY COMICS, acclaimed, groundbreaking new weekly series from DC Comics, have both sold out and are going back to press for second printings.

WEDNESDAY COMICS #1 Second Printing (JUN098460) is scheduled to arrive in stores on August 26.

WEDNESDAY COMICS #2 Second Printing (JUN098461) is scheduled to arrive in stores on August 26.

These second printings will not be listed on Final Order Cutoff.

To ensure delivery on August 26, retailers must place orders by Sunday, August 16. Quantities will be limited and may sell out before August 16.

The bold new venture of DC Comics debuted this week. Called “Wednesday Comics” because of the strong influence from the Sunday Comics where page after page of various serial strips would run week after week holding a little something for just about everyone in the audience. As you might guess Wednesday Comics is printed on newspaper and folds open to 11 x 17. It’s got fifteen serials to follow and many of them are very good and they in fact do offer something for a wide range of audiences. This first installment of twelve is good but is this something that has staying power? Tune in next week I guess.

I've been eager to check out Wednesday Comics ever since Kurt Busiek mentioned it to me during our interview at Emerald City, and when I got my hands on a copy of Wednesday Comics #1 this morning, not only were my expectations surpassed, but I was totally blown away. I felt like a kid in a comic shop for the first time! Wednesday Comics is fun, it looks cool, and it's going to be amazing to read every week.

Wednesday Comics #1Media Release -- Starting Wednesday, July 8, when the first issue of WEDNESDAY COMICS hits stands, USA TODAY will be syndicating writer John Arcudi and artist Lee Bermejo's SUPERMAN strip every week over the course of the 12-week series. The first strip will appear in print on July 8, and subsequent strips will appear each Wednesday on USATODAY.COM, day-and-date with the respective issue. Additionally, each online preview will be promoted weekly in USA TODAY's print edition.
