![]() Brandon Borzelli's Geek Goggle Reviews Transformers Spotlight: Hardhead This comic tries to do two things and ends up failing to do either one effectively. First off, it tries to give a quality one shot story for Hardhead. It doesn’t do this with any satisfaction. Secondly, it tries to advance the overall plot of main arc in four or five directions. It manages to catch my attention on only one or two. As such, this issue feels like it is all over the place and has way too many characters to keep track of. It feels like the comic is in over its head. Or hardhead. Ha-ha. ![]() Brandon Borzelli's Geek Goggle Reviews Transformers Spotlight: Cyclonus This issue picks up many of the plot threads left when the Devastation arc concluded. The issue does an excellent job of recapping all the information that you’d need for this comic at the front of it. It also starts to bring many of the open questions together into one place. Reading this comic made me want to see what happens next which is exactly what you want when you finish a comic. ![]() Brandon Borzelli's Geek Goggle Reviews Transformers Movie Prequel Special This comic contains two stories with over the 30 pages of story. Sadly, this comic sure feels like we’ve read most of it before. The Transformers comic movie continuity seems to be a mess. Adding to the confusion is the depiction of some of the bots in this issue differs way too much from those in the other movie comic series. I found much of this issue to be baffling. (San Diego, June 18, 2008) If you’ve ever wondered what might happen to planet Earth without the Autobots to stand in the way of the Decepticon threat, ponder that bleak scenario no more. In July, that threat becomes dire reality in IDW’s all-new 12-part series, THE TRANSFORMERS: ALL HAIL MEGATRON. Tags: idw publishing, transformers ![]() Brandon Borzelli's Geek Goggle Reviews Transformers: Reign of Starscream #2 of 4 The second issue brings us a solid story. Finally, the plot starts to become clear. Starscream fights to find Frenzy. The humans want Starscream. The Autobots and Decepticons lurk about. The issue is very fast and shows us a lot of the large scale elements we saw in the movie. ![]() Brandon Borzelli's Geek Goggle Reviews Transformers Movie Sequel Reign of Starscream #1 of 4 The opening issue that is labeled as the sequel to the movie isn’t really much of a sequel at all. In reality, this issue spends a number of pages setting up things just prior to the movie and then rehashes the movie’s events from Starscream’s point of view. The issue really only contains a couple of pages of how Starscream deals with the fallout of the movie. In short, not much happens in this issue. That isn’t to say this issue isn’t good. However, other items within help to bog it down. Overall I wasn’t thrilled with the issue. ![]() Brandon Borzelli's Geek Goggle Reviews Transformer Spotlight: Grimlock An odd issue as the plots from the Devastation arc get wrapped up in a series of Spotlights. This issue wraps up one of the more minor ones. I found the issue to be unsatisfying on that end, but a couple of technical mistakes bothered me enough in the issue for me to really end up disliking it. ![]() Brandon Borzelli's Geek Goggle Reviews Transformers: Focus on Decepticons #1 This issue is a preview of the new Transformers series called All Hail Megatron due out in the summer. It has a couple of interviews, some miniature bios of the Decepticons and an eight page preview of the first issue. The material is simply not worth the $3 cover price. I’m not even sure it would have been worth $1 cover price. The real item to review here is the material about the series.
