Media Release -- The Image Comics/Skybound series THIEF OF THIEVES, Robert Kirkman's cinematic crime comic has no zombies, no superheroes, and no larger-than-life arsenal — and it has become one of the best-selling independent comics hits of the year. The first three issues are now entering their fourth printings, with the fourth issue not far behind with a third printing.
THIEF OF THIEVES #3, published by Skybound/Image Comics, has sold out at the distributor level just like the second issue. The first issue sold out on the first day of release. A second printing (MAR128105) will be in stores on May 2, the same day as THIEF OF THIEVES #4.
Media Release -- THIEF OF THIEVES #2, published by Image Comics, won't be on comic book store shelves until Wednesday March 14, but it has already sold out at the distributor level. A second printing (DEC118235) will be in stores on April 11, the same day as THIEF OF THIEVES #3.

Kirkman, Spencer, Martinbrough & Serrano
The first issue from heavy-hitters Robert Kirkman and Nice Spencer is a crime drama that plays out a lot like the first episode of a TV show. The book carries the tagline on the front cover that there isn't anything he can't steal except the life he left behind. But does the book deliver on that premise in the first issue? Does the book provide something to stand out among the many other books that deal with tough characters set in criminal settings without superheroes? This first issue provides a good character outline and a decent story within the issue but doesn't really show that the book is going to be too fast paced or all that different from other crime books. Overall, I found the book to be a very ordinary read.
Continuing a trend for Image Comics in 2012, THIEF OF THIEVES #1, the first issue of a new series by Robert Kirkman (THE WALKING DEAD), Nick Spencer (MORNING GLORIES), and Shawn Martinbrough has sold out. The issue has immediately gone back to press and a second printing (DEC118235), with a new cover by Martinbrough, will be in stores on the same day as THIEF OF THIEVES #2, March 14.
