"Spread" is a no holds barred horror comic book that takes a very bloody look at the apocalypse. Make no mistake, this comic book is not for the feint of heart. For the most part, the story follows three characters through a very limited set of scenery changes while being chased by some of the most grotesque and creative monsters this side of a John Carpenter movie. The series just began its second arc with the eighth issue last month so now is a good time to check this comic book out.

Spread #3Media Release -- Justin Jordan (DEAD BODY ROAD, LUTHER STRODE) and Kyle Strahm's (HACK/SLASH, HAUNT) SPREAD will up the stakes further in the third issue of the hit new sci-fi series about a nefarious viral growth that has almost completely taken over the world. The second issue of Spread is quite different from the first one. This issue introduces the head of the bad guy group and puts out some slavers in the path of the lead character, "No" and the baby, Hope. As a result, this comic is starting to settle too much in familiar apocalyptic circles. The narration helps the comic along nicely and the book is backed up by stellar artwork. I'm not sure what to make of this series yet but with a strong first issue and a decent second issue I think the potential is still there. I recommend checking this out.

Spread is a comic book that hits you in the gut immediately and leaves you stunned, but wanting more. This first issue establishes the primary protagonist and his purpose while entertaining along the way with edge-of-your-seat action and some horrific images worthy of some of the most frightening horror flicks that I can remember. I urge those not of the faint hearted to pick this comic book up. It is a smash hit in the waiting and this is the ground floor. It will surely be an impossible issue to track down in short order.
