Media Release -- Norman Osborn's plans to establish his stranglehold on the Marvel Universe reached a fruition as he launched his long-planned attack on Asgard itself and the heroes of the Marvel Universe united against him in its defense in Siege #1, the first part of the four-issue mini-series that marks the culmination of a seven-year-long storyline, giving Marvel Comics the best-selling comic book in January 2010, based upon total unit sales to comic book specialty shops, according to Diamond Comic Distributors.
Following the immediate sell out of Siege #1 and announcement of no current plans for a second printing, Marvel is now officially confirming there will be no second printing. This follows Marvel's statement to retailers in November that no second printing of Siege #1 would be made available due to the unprecedented returnability offer associated with the issue. However, Siege #1 Director's Cut arrives in stores this March and features the complete first issue plus bonus material not seen before!
Marvel is pleased to announce that Siege #1, Siege: Embedded #1, and Avengers: The Initiative #31 (the Siege Prologue tie in) have all sold out at Diamond (though copies may still be available at retail level). An event seven years in the making, Siege is shaking Marvel Universe to its very core! It all starts in Avengers: The Initiative #31, penned by Christos N. Gage and illustrated by Rafa Sandoval, when Norman Osborn recruits the newest member of the Cabal—Taskmaster! Marvel kicks off the big event with this issue and it puzzled the heck out of me. Make no mistake this event gets under way quickly in this issue and wastes no time with getting right into the action. The comic is a fine story but I felt like the "story" occurred somewhere outside of this issue. I have no idea where but I couldn't help but think that things were happening off panel that were really relevant. And if I hadn't read the Origins of Siege issue I would have been even worse off.
Per Diamond Distribution, "Due to a printing error, some back matter pages from Siege #1, presenting the Ares War Plan Transcript, were misprinted or omitted. These pages will be printed correctly in the back of Siege #2."
Marvel also posted this at their website: "This material was also printed in SIEGE #1, but due to a printing error, was printed incorrectly. The digital comic version is complete and corrected."
