Anthology title “Eleventh Hour” ,which relaunches in June from AAM/Markosia, was nominated for “Favourite Black and White Comic - British”. Writer Peter Rogers, who co-founded the studio said “We put out two issues of our anthology title ourselves last year and the feedback from readers and reviewers was great. Once the book was picked up by a publisher we knew we were doing something right and this nomination really is the icing on the cake. “ Another founding member of the studio Tanzanian artist Azim Akberali picked up two nominations, “Favourite Newcomer Artist” and “Favourite Artist: Fully Painted Artwork”. Akberali provided pencils on two of the stories in “Eleventh Hour” as well as providing breathtaking painted pin ups and covers. “For years my hero has been Alex Ross” Akberali said “and now I’m nominated in a category alongside him. I’m still pinching myself”. The Eagle Awards have been running since 1976 and previous winners include Alan Davis, Alan Moore, Warren Ellis and The X-Men. Considered by many to be the true people’s awards the Eagles are voted for by fans. You can vote for this year’s awards at http://www.eagleawards.co.uk/vote.asp. This year’s Awards Ceremony takes place on the evening of Saturday 10th May as part of the Bristol Comic Expo.
