I read this press release, hoping to discover it was more than self promotion by Marvel. But it's not. It's not a third party "cover of the year" contest, and there's no benefit or prize to you for voting. But it did remind me I need to mail the prizes people won at www.smileysmile.net almost a year ago, and I need to finalize my plans for a Twitter contest. So at least there was a benefit to me.

Nominations will be accepted now through Tuesday, May 27. To make nominations, all you need to do is log into Marvel.com (if you're not registered for the site, it just takes a few seconds) and pick your favorite titles!

Once the top 64 covers are nominated, there are 4 rounds of the Cover vs. Cover Battle Brackets where you’ll need to vote, vote, VOTE (you can vote once per day, per round). Your votes will narrow down the covers until you pick the winner: the Cover of the Year !
