Media Release -- After months of anticipation and speculation, Project: Rooftop has compiled the 100+ entries and tallied the results to crown the winner of its Invincible: Viltrumite Vogue Redesign Contest. The creation of Robert Kirkman and Ryan Ottley, Invincible has blossomed to be the flagship hero for Image Comics' super-hero books and one of the most popular comics icons created in the past decade. Sponsored by the innovative comics retailer Thwipster, "Invincible: Viltrumite Vogue" is the latest in a line of contests by Project: Rooftop, giving artists a chance to redesign a super-hero in a friendly competition for prizes, recognition and just plain fun.
Media Release -- He may be still be seen by some as the new super-hero on the block, but Invincible has become an iconic addition to the super-hero landscape in comics. Created nine years ago by Robert Kirkman and Cory Walker, the Invincible series is nearing a landmark 100 issues and Project: Rooftop wants to dress Mark Grayson up for the occasion. If you love superheroes and haven't picked up Invincible yet, what's stopping you? Focusing on the trials and travails of Mark Grayson, a teenage superhero who happens to be descended from an alien race that aims to–ulp!–take over planet Earth (don't worry, he's not on board with that plan), Invincible is pure, classic, superhero awesome, graced with Ottley's clean, dynamic artwork.
In addition to the dangerous superheroics, complicated interpersonal relationships, and excellent aliens, Invincible has a strong sense of humor (note that the story arcs are all named after classic sitcoms such as Who's the Boss?)–as does Ottley, as you'll soon read:
Media Release -- It may be hard to believe that Invincible has been fighting villains for 75 issues and that Rick Grimes has survived the zombie apocalypse for the same duration, but INVINCIBLE and THE WALKING DEAD turn 75 (issues) in July. "These backups are not a preview, this is completely original material not collected in the upcoming mini-series," writer Robert Kirkman said. "The IMAGE UNITED PRELUDE will debut Whilce Portacio's new character, FORTRESS, and set up his role front and center in the overall Image universe. Plus, there's a surprise that's going to shock an awful lot of fans. It'll be your first hint the crossover isn't limited to the seven characters we've seen."
