Since Diamond Comic Distributors is taking a holiday-dictated time out the last week of December, there will be no new mainstream books in comic shops December 30.
With this in mind, a group of trailblazing comics creators founded Indy Comic Book Week, an event in which indy creators can get their books into comic shops across the nation. (We're also participating here at TFAW.com, and creators have ONE WEEK LEFT to submit–click here to learn how to send us your comics!)
We were able to conduct an email interview with three of the founders: Matthew Warlick, Vinh-Luan Luu, and Jake Ekiss. Read on to learn what inspired them and get their perspective on where indy comics fit into the industry as a whole:
As you may already know, Diamond Comic Distributors will not be shipping any new comics during the last week of December. While many of us will miss our favorite titles (temporarily), this is an excellent opportunity for independent comic book creators to get their books in front of a wider audience! Jake Ekiss, Vinh-Luan Luu, Paul Milligan, and Matthew Warlick have been busy promoting Indy Comic Book Week, and Things From Another World is excited to take part in this revolutionary event!
To wit: independent comic book creators, show us your stuff! Submit your work to us by December 16, 2009. If we like your comics, we’ll buy them carry them on our website, TFAW.com, as well as in our three Oregon locations!
