Media Release -- BOOM! Studios is proud to announce today that THE ANCHOR #1 has sold out in less than one week.

Fans should keep in mind, while Diamond Comic Distributors is completely sold out, first printings of THE ANCHOR #1 may still be found at a direct market retailer near you.

The second printing of THE ANCHOR #1 is available to order immediately through BOOM!'s new relationship with Haven Distributors, and is also immediately available to order through Diamond Comic Distributors. Haven Distributors will have THE ANCHOR #1 available to ship to retailers next week, while Diamond orders will hit retailers at the end of November.

If they can win the trust of enough retailers, they might do quite well for themselves. Of course, they do have external factors -- namely, the overall economy -- working against them, but from what I've seen so far, it looks like they're working with retailers one-on-one to help them improve their own businesses. It's generally not the type of business model that will make them rich overnight, but if they can continue to do well in these first few years, I wouldn't be surprised if Haven became a name you might recognize more readily in the not-too-distant future.

Small Press Idol is the greatest amateur's contest in comics, now in our sixth year! Mixing a bit of American Idol with a bit of The Apprentice, and a bunch of our own special social experiment elements. Round 1 is now in full swing, with new projects posting daily. Enemi Entertainment has released details on their May 2009 Catalog. (Per their website, "Enemi produces a printed catalog through which they help promote products to indie-friendly markets. Haven Distributors handles the purchasing, order processing, and shipping for all of the products listed in the Enemi catalog.") Given Diamond's recent changes that affect lower selling and ordered titles, alternatives such as this one are going to become more valuable than ever. If you are a publisher, get listed; if you are a consumer, encourage your retailer to supplement their Diamond orders with Enemi.
