Media Release -- Marvel is pleased to announce Doctor Strange: From The Marvel Vault #1, a new story about one of the most important missions of the sorcerer's career! Written by legendary creator Roger Stern and penciled by artist extraordinaire Neil Vokes, this lost work chronicles the Sorcerer Supreme's first night in his Greenwich Village brownstone…and his first mystical encounter there! Doctor Strange lost his title as the Sorcerer Supreme and someone must take his place – but who? Award-winning scribe Brian Bendis, along with artists Billy Tan and Chris Bachalo, present the can’t miss search for the new Sorcerer Supreme in New Avengers #51! As the mystic battle royale begins, the Avengers must help Doctor Strange regain his title while struggling to take down Norman Osborn and the Dark Avengers- but after the events of the sold out New Avengers #50, they’ve put themselves right in their cross hairs!
Talking about the "Dr. Strange" project, Feige hinted on the possibility stating, "I'd say in the next year, year and a half, as we start putting together our film slate for 2012 and 2013, I would not be shocked if we saw Dr. Strange on those lists." He further added, sharing his enthusiasm on the proposed project, "I love the idea of taping into the magical realm of the Marvel Universe, which is fairly significant and hasn't yet seen life on screen. It's something I'm very, very interested in."
Discussing about the character itself, the studio topper recalled, "I remember two years ago at Comic Con the cover of the 'LA Times Calendar Section,' read 'Marvel calls out the B team' and there was a picture of Iron Man. We don't look at them as 'B team.' Dr. Strange? This is one of the best characters we have. [He represents] this amazing cosmic universe to Marvel that we haven't played with in films yet and I think could be amazing to play with."
