Dog Eaters?

Don’t be ashamed if you haven’t heard of this exciting new freshman work just yet, as Issue 1 just hit stands last Wednesday, but let me help remedy that oversight with a quick synopsis of the setting. Dog Eaters takes place in the future 175 years after the Die Off, a global extinction of 90% of the world’s population. The remaining survivors live a nomadic and violent existence, with only a few scattered casino cities serving as reminders of civilization. One such group of survivors is the Black Dog Clan (the tale’s protagonists), who are looking to leave behind their nomadic lifestyle and found their own casino city.

November 26, 2008 - Best-selling author Dean Koontz is bringing a brand new story to comics, and Keith Champagne is the writer tapped to make it happen.

As announced recently, the five-issue comic book series Nevermore is based on an outline by Koontz and will be published by Dabel Brothers Publishing starting in February. Based on characters and ideas by Koontz, who has more than 350 million copies of his novels sold worldwide, the comic will feature art by Andy Smith with a story written by Champagne about searching for a lost love across parallel earths.

1. Have you always been a comic book artist? How long have you been drawing comic books? Is it something you have always wanted to do?

I've always been a comics fan – I think my first ones were those digest collections of the old Steve Ditko Spider-man issues. As far as being a working comic book artist, I've only been doing that for the last year or two. It's definitely something I have always wanted to at least try.

Dabel Brothers Publishing is thrilled to announce the creative team of writer David Atchison, artist Chris Dibari, and Kieran Oats as colorist. The Warriors, the widely known cult classic movie from Paramount Pictures, based on Sol Yurick's novel, will be adapted into comic book form come February 2009. The series will be five issues and will sprout a few offshoot series and one-shots.
