Midwest Book Review: Orcs: Forged for War
Orcs: Forged for War is the first graphic novel of the popular and award-winning Orcs dark fantasy universe. Set in a devastated land, where two factions of humans wage a bloodthirsty conflict, Orcs: Forged for War follows the Wolverines, an elite cohort of orc warriors (and one headstrong dwarf sergeant). The orcs are allied with the witch-empress who is at least willing to include nonhuman races underneath her merciless, iron-fisted rule; the opposing human faction seeks to commit genocide upon all nonhuman races in the name of its God. When the orcs are assigned to protect a unit of goblin-sorcerers transporting a mysterious and deadly new weapon, their mission begins with frustration and ultimately escalates into life-threatening peril! A savage fantasy brought to vivid life in full color, Orcs: Forged for War is utterly compelling from cover to cover and highly recommended.

Everyone know the Beatles: the hordes of screaming girls, the Beatlemania, the countless albums that shot out hit song after hit. But while Arne Bellstorf's Baby's in Black features the Fab Four, it really focuses on the lesser-known "Fifth Beatle," Stuart Sutcliffe, and his romance with photographer Astrid Kirchherr. Sutcliffe, a talented painter as well as a musician, left the band in 1961 and died unexpectedly of an aneurysm in 1962.

Media Release -- Beginning on September 15th, 2009, the Cartoon Art Museum's ongoing Small Press Spotlight will feature the art of Richard Sala.
Richard Sala grew up with a fascination for musty old museums, dusty libraries, cluttered antique shops, narrow alleyways, hidden truths, double meanings, and late night walks. He’s known for his creepy, spooky, and weird illustrations and paintings.
