Spongebob Comics #1Media Release -- Stephen Hillenburg, creator of the "SpongeBob SquarePants," television series, now in its eleventh year on Nickelodeon, announces the release of the first issue of his new, bimonthly, comic book series SpongeBob Comics, published by United Plankton Pictures, Inc. Although SpongeBob, Patrick, Squidward, and the rest of the underwater inhabitants of Bikini Bottom have previously appeared in the pages of Nickelodeon Magazine and in Tokyopop's Cine-Manga series, SpongeBob Comics #1 marks the first time the characters have appeared in their own comic books in the United States and the first time that Hillenburg is authoring his own books.

Comic Book Guy The Comic Book #1Media Release -- Matt Groening, creator of "The Simpsons" and "Futurama," has announced that Bongo Comics Group's new website, www.bongocomics.com, will launch on Wednesday, July 21st in time for the beginning of the 2010 San Diego Comic-Con International. www.bongocomics.com will offer regular "Simpsons" and "Futurama" news items and blog updates, as well as announcements of new publishing ventures. A comprehensive history of all Matt Groening's comic-book, trade-book, and calendar publications, including Groening's catalog of books collecting his syndicated strip Life in Hell, will also be featured.

Sergio AragonésMedia Release -- Matt Groening, creator of "The Simpsons" and "Futurama," has announced that Sergio Aragonés (MAD Magazine, Groo the Wanderer) will become a regular featured artist and writer in Bart Simpson comics beginning with issue #50. Sergio Aragonés will provide the entire contents of Bart Simpson #50 as well as the cover art. The issue will include an eleven-page main story entitled "The Simpson Project." Mr. Aragonés will also contribute a new and ongoing feature entitled "Maggie's Crib," a series of pantomime stories much in the vein of his classic three-page "A Mad Look At…" feature found in MAD Magazine. Sergio will also be a contributor of stories to the Bart Simpson title as well as other Bongo Comics Group titles on a regular basis.
