Media Release -- Thanks to the Sasakawa Foundation this years British International Comics Show is proud to announce the award winning Japanese manga artist Michiru Morikawa as their latest overseas guest.
Known for her singular style of art that merges children's illustration with manga Michiru will be helping to launch the new book "Buskers" drawn by her, written by Sean Michael Wilson and published by Insomnia Publications.
The artist is reported to be "very excited" about visiting Birmingham, as she lived there earlier in her career and never expected to have the opportunity to visit her favourite British city again so soon.

This years British International Comics Show in Birmingham is very proud to announce the publication of the first winner of the Bics Got Talent Writing contest.
The lucky winner John Howson has had his Future Shock story "9 to 5" illustrated by the talented artist Ben Willsher in the latest issue of the infamous science fiction anthology magazine 2000ad which is available now in all good newsagents.

The Birmingham International Comics Show returns to Millennium Point in Britain’s second city for 2nd year running. Last year the Show moved from the smaller Custard Factory venue to the much larger Millennium Point to cope with the increased numbers of visitors, guests and events.
One of the most anticipated movie adaptations of all time will be the 2009 release of Watchmen. This best selling graphic novel made the Sunday Times bestseller list and was named as one of Time magazines top 100 most influential books since 1923. Along the way the book has gathered a whole plethora of awards for both its creators and the Birmingham International Comic Show 2008 is pleased to announce that Dave Gibbons, co-creator of the Watchmen story, will be appearing at the show this year to discuss the book and answer questions.
