Batman & Robin #16
DC Comics
Morrison, Stewart & Irving
Morrison leaves Batman and Robin with a bang as he wraps up so many plots and sub plots that have been running for years. Morrison even ties a bow on little things, such as the meaning behind the acronym R.I.P. This issue is satisfying in so many ways after reading his run for the past three or four years and wondering about some of the hidden meanings behind so many of the events. However, the issue is far from perfect. As a whole, though, this is a great read for an oversized finale to one story and the beginning of an entirely different one.
Media Release -- Paul Cornell, writer of the red-hot "Black Ring" storyline in ACTION COMICS and the new KNIGHT AND SQUIRE miniseries, teams up with veteran BATMAN artist Scott McDaniel for a three-part story beginning in BATMAN AND ROBIN #17!

Batman and Robin #14
DC Comics
Morrison & Irving
This series turned the corner in a big way in this issue. If you have been following along with Morrison's work on Batman you get, what I consider, to be a major payoff here. With the Joker's involvement in the issue we get the dots connected. It's great stuff all around as the pieces (or dominoes) get put into place. This was an excellent read.

Batman & Robin #12
DC Comics
Morrison & Clarke
If you are looking for a comic book that entertains while juggling half a dozen or so plates, while setting up the next major storyline you have found it with this issue. Not only does this issue push the search for Batman into forefront, but we also get a major development in Robin's characterization and if that weren't enough we get a bombshell on the last page. Oh, and Dr Hurt has some tricks up his sleeve too. A stellar issue.

Batman And Robin #11
DC Comics
Morrison, Clarke & Hanna
The Return of Bruce Wayne begins here! Well, in some respect you might be able to claim that it is inferred that Bruce is fact "here" and very active in this issue. This issue continues the clue discovery by Dick Grayson (Batman) and the problems that Damian (Robin) faces as he is attacked outside in the Wayne Manor graveyard. This is a very good issue because it begins to unfold a villain plot that seems to tie in with the missing Bruce Wayne while at the same time continues to reshape the relationships of Dick and Damian and the mysterious character Sexton. This issue proves that Morrison has larger plans than a simple six part return story that begins in June.
