Brandon Borzelli's Geek Goggle Reviews
Batgirl #8
DC Comics
Simone, Syaf, Martinez & Cifuentes
This is the issue that may turn the corner for my interest in this title. Up to this point, Batgirl has been dancing around the events that put her in a wheelchair. It's been ever present, but barely explored. As a subplot, Barbara Gordon's mom is back in the picture but again, shady in the details as to why she left and why she is back. This issue provides answers and they are so gripping that the comic turns into a deep drama where the façade is the female caped crusader. I found the events in this book to be among the best in the eight issues thus far and it helps to ensure that I will continue to pick up the book.

Batgirl #3
DC Comics
Simone, Syaf & Cifuentes
The third issue of Batgirl starts off with a bang and teeters off after that as the issue seems to build character relationships at the expense of a plot development. Overall, I liked the issue, but found myself wishing it were better. The parts of the issue that were good were close to great but there simply wasn't enough of them.

Batgirl #2
DC Comics
Simone, Syaf & Cifuentes
Batgirl rolls on with the second issue picking up immediately where the first one left off and it concludes with a good origin story for the main villain. Overall I found the issue to be entertaining and generally a solid read but there isn't a whole lot yet that made me say "wow". Perhaps as the storyline continues to gather up some steam we'll get there. Overall, this was the one new DC title (complete reboot not re-launch or launch) that I found enjoying the most coming out of the first month and that remains so with this issue. I would say this series is off to a good start.

Brandon Borzelli's Geek Goggle Reviews
Batgirl #1
DC Comics
Simone, Syaf & Cifuentes
The first issue of Batgirl delivers an accessible, engaging and entertaining comic book that fulfills much of what DC hopes to do with their reboot, particularly with a character that has been drastically altered. I found the comic to bring the Barbara Gordon character to a stage where she is smart, but inexperienced while maintaining the same deep-thought character will recall from her Oracle days but all the while injecting a layer of fun that Oracle rarely provided. Overall, this is the kind of comic book that DC needs to keep creating and churning out in order to make this reboot a success with old and new fans alike.
