Flash Gordon #6
Ardden Entertainment
Deneen & Green
The first arc ends with a huge bang as Flash Gordon and company take the fight directly to Ming. You might think this comic is just one massive battle but it actually isn't. Instead the drama plays out centered on the main cast of characters while the major war goes on around them. The comic is very good because it doesn't rely too heavily on Flash. The supporting cast has been built up enough over the previous issues that they can (and do) carry much of the issue. Add in a terrific cliffhanger and you have a great comic book.

Flash Gordon #5

Flash Gordon rallies the troops as he prepares for war against Ming. This issue deals with the most difficult task to date in this series. The comic has to convince the reader that Flash Gordon is capable of getting various races to accept him, trust him and follow him. It’s a task that I think was accomplished but you could easily scratch your head and think it seems too rushed. I liked this comic and I think it plays well into the desperation of the races of Mongo.

Flash Gordon #4

Another great installment of Flash Gordon handles a ton of characters in this issue. We get some more of the political landscape mapped out for us and we get some action to boot. What we are seeing here is that alliances are being formed and relationships are being tested. It’s a dense comic with a lot going on in it.
