Flash Gordon: Vengeance of Ming GN

Flash Gordon is back on Earth and all seems to be going well for the hero that saved Mongo from Ming and plenty of other baddies. However, as the title states, not everything is rosy. Ming was missing for much of the previous arc, Invasion of the Red Sword, but he manages to come back with a, well, a Vengeance in this the penultimate act of Deneen's modern day Flash Gordon masterpiece. This should not be missed.

A lot of comic books get published each and every month. In fact, hundreds of them do. Many of them are very similar. They are very successful and provide a certain level of entertainment with a touch of predictability sprinkled in them by using very similar characters and centralized themes. Once in a while I find something so different, so fresh and so good that I feel lucky I even took a chance and bought the book. Chew was one such find. Mixtape draws the same kind of excitement and "wow" factor that after I finished the book I couldn't believe how under the radar the book is and how incredibly lucky I am to have found it. After reading the book three or four times I found myself impatiently waiting for the second issue.

Flash Gordon Invasion Of The Red Sword #6

The conclusion to the Red Sword arc leaves off exactly where you might expect it to knowing that the next Flash Gordon story is entitled, "The Vengeance of Ming." The fun of the issue is getting there and this issue doesn't disappoint. This arc has had a couple of themes running throughout the six issue arc that continue in the finale. This issue provides the same high level of character work, complex plot and outstanding artwork that has been the norm throughout this series. The cliffhanger ensures that I will be waiting fairly impatiently for the next arc set to begin in early 2012.
