Media Release -- Because many readers may have missed out on the first printing of MOUSE GUARD: LEGENDS OF THE GUARD VOL. 1 hardcover, Archaia and its exclusive digital partner, Graphic.ly, have made the first story in the anthology collection available for free digital download on the Graphic.ly platform while a new printing is on its way. The download also includes the two opening pages written and drawn by series creator David Petersen that introduces the through-line of the story. The offer follows in the footsteps of the digital release of a 23-page preview of another recent Archaia sellout, RETURN OF THE DAPPER MEN, which was the highest downloaded comic in a single day on Graphic.ly.

Media Release -- As a testament to the continuing strength of the Mouse Guard brand and Archaia Entertainment's commitment to its creators, the publisher announced today that after selling 80,000 copies of David Petersen's Mouse Guard Vol. 1: Fall 1152 hardcover since its original release in 2007, the title is going back to press. Archaia's third printing of 10,000 copies, which are scheduled to arrive in stores in March, was expected to last over a 12-month period, but a deluge of advanced ordering due to the announcement of more Mouse Guard volumes has prompted the possibility of a fourth printing to commence in the coming months.
Media Release -- Continuing its tradition of excellence and a commitment to high-quality creator-controlled comics, Archaia announced it will resume a full publishing schedule beginning in June.
“Our number one priority is to show our commitment to publishing by completing the great stories we have already begun to tell,” said Publisher Mark Smylie. In June, Archaia will release hardcovers of The Awakening and Some New Kind of Slaughter and has committed to put out at least two hardcover collected editions per month, thereafter, for the rest of the year. Making good on this promise, July will see the hardcover releases of The Engineer (which will be offered at an unprecedented $9.99 price point) and the second volume of the Eisner Award-winning Mouse Guard. Collections of the critically acclaimed Primordia and Gunnerkrigg Court Vol. 2 are set to debut in August.

Yes, rumors are swirling in the public comic trade forum about the future of ASP and its many award-winning and highly-praised comics and graphic novels. Are we being acquired? Are creators happy? What about Artesia? Mark Smylie answers your questions and addresses the rumors.
(PRESS RELEASE 05/21/08) It’s been a busy couple of years here at Archaia Studios Press as the company has produced a growing catalog of award-winning and critically acclaimed comic books and graphic novels. But ASP has also run into a few growing pains along the way---as does any new publishing company---and today must announce that it must take a moment to restructure following the decision of Aki Liao, ASP’s co-publisher, to step back from an ongoing role at the company for personal reasons.

PRESS RELEASE: The nomination list for the 2008 Will Eisner Comic Industry Awards represents the most diverse slate of titles and creators in the 20-year history of the awards (considered the “Oscars” of the comic book industry). The nominees range from literary Japanese graphic novels to comics based on popular TV series, from massive hardcover collections of classic comic strips and comic books to cutting-edge anthologies, from goofy humor titles to works about the Soviet space program, a Chinese vaudeville magician, and the Negro Leagues. In fact, the nominations are so varied that it is difficult to summarize any trends.
