The latest Marvel Comics news from the Wizard World Chicago convention:

Alex Ross will be co-plotting a series at Marvel called "The Return," which apparently involves Captain America to some degree. Joe Quesada says "It's going to be really spectacular." According to Ross, his painting of Captain America is designed "to grab the eye of course with the forthcoming return of Captain America. You know there's got to be some kind of return coming, so what is it? It's appropriately mysterious."

Yen Press Debuts at San Diego Comic-Con

NEW YORK, NY (August 9, 2007) — Hot on the heels of a successful debut at this year's San Diego Comic-Con, the newly formed graphic novel imprint Yen Press has announced that Little, Brown Book Group UK will simultaneously distribute Yen's upcoming list in Britain beginning next month. With seven titles scheduled for release this fall, Little, Brown UK's market-leading sci-fi imprint Orbit has been enlisted to market the Yen Press list in the growing manga market.

Viz Media Announced New Titles

San Francisco, CA, August 08, 2007 — VIZ Media, LLC (VIZ Media), one of the entertainment industry's most innovative and comprehensive publishing, animation and licensing companies, made a series of notable announcements of several highly anticipated new anime and manga properties at the recent 2007 Comic-Con International. The convention, which is the premiere event for the comics industry in North America, drew more than 120,000 attendees.

Marvel Presents AAA Baseball Free Comic Book Day

New York, NY (8/8/07) – Triple-A Baseball and Marvel Entertainment have teamed up for an exclusive partnership that brings together two true forms of Americana– baseball and comic books. The first wave of the partnership hits throughout August where on select dates all 30 Triple-A teams will be handing out an exclusive baseball-themed comic book featuring Marvel characters Spider-Man™, Iron-Man™, the Fantastic Four™ and the Incredible Hulk™.

The book, entitled “Triple-A Baseball Heroes,” puts the Marvel Super Heroes in the middle of the Triple-A all-star event alongside the League’s ever-popular mascots. The book is penciled by Marvel artist Robert Adkins, inked by Rick Ketchum and Drew Geraci, and written by Chris Eliopoulos. The books will ONLY be available at the stadiums and will have the teams logo embossed on their particular cover. In addition, one of the top up and coming artists, British painter John Watson (Uncanny X-Men, Civil War: Frontline, Incredible Hulk) has created three variant covers for the events in Buffalo, Durham and Memphis. In each of those cities the cover of their book will be completely unique and exclusive to their cities.

WORLD WAR HULK #1 Second Printing

Marvel is proud to announce that WORLD WAR HULK #1 has sold out at Diamond (though copies may still be available at the retail level). Fear not, if you haven’t gotten your copy of this “incredible” summer blockbuster, Marvel is going back to press with a variant cover of superstar artist John Romita Jr.’s interior art.

Written by Greg Pak with pencils by John Romita Jr., WORLD WAR HULK #1 finds the Hulk returning from a distant planet looking for revenge on those who exiled him.
