Media Release -- Los Angeles, CA (June 17, 2009) for immediate release-Trying to squeeze a few more drops of sweet economic nectar from the well-squeezed stimulus package known as “Obama comics,” About Comics has created a special limited edition of Licensable Bear #4 (Barack’s first comic book appearance) for the Hero Initiative. A mere 60 copies of the Obamaesque (is that an adjective already?) Shepard Fairley-inspired cover have been printed, with 50 copies hand-numbered and signed by Licensable Bear creator Nat Gertler. The numbered copies are currently available via Hero’s eBay store.

Media Release -- Los Angeles, Calif. (June 12, 2009) Hero initiative is proud to announce it’s attendance at Wizard world Philadelphia, June 19-21 at the Pennsylvania Convention Center with special guest Steve Dillon from London, England. Dillon, the artist of critically acclaimed Preacher and Wolverine: Origins, has generously committed his time to raise money for Hero Initiative at Wizard World, so stop by booth (532/631) and be the lucky recipient of a sketch or signature while contributing to a wonderful cause.
In addition, ask our helpful volunteers about becoming a Hero Initiative member! All new members who sign up on site will get a FREE Punisher #1 Hero Initiative/Atomic variant! (See below)
Media Release --Hero Initiative and Meltdown Comics are pleased to announce 100 Bullets: Last Shot, the farewell party to the critically acclaimed Vertigo/DC Comics series 100 Bullets on July 11th, 2009. The event coincides with the release of the final 100 Bullets paperback, Wilt. Copies will be available for sale at the event; with a limited edition tip-in plate signed by writer Brian Azzarello and cover artist Dave Johnson.
Media Release -- Los Angeles, CA (May 18, 2009)— Hero Initiative is very proud to announce the release of Hero Comics. The 32-page, no-ads comic, edited and produced by Scott Dunbier, special projects editor at IDW Publishing, will be released in late July with two covers, Eve by J. Scott Campbell, and Grendel by Matt Wagner. The fundraising book will contain great, all-new content including an original American Flagg! story by Howard Chaykin, and original stories by Gene Ha, Bill Willingham, David Lloyd, and Kaare Andrews.
In addition, Arthur Adams will recreate three classic Marvel Comics covers, and Hero Initiative beneficiaries such as Gene Colan, Bill Messner-Loebs and Josh Medors will tell their own personal stories, detailing their severe struggles, and Hero's involvement.

Media Release --Hero Initiative will be traveling to the Super-Con in San Jose California in the south hall of the San Jose Convention Center. The con is proud to announce the biggest line up ever!! Media Release -- Los Angeles, CA (April 27, 2009): Hero Initiative is proud to announce a unique fundraising partnership with Southern California comic stores on Saturday, May 2nd for Free Comic Book Day, and Los Angeles’ “Big Sunday” on May 3. Three comic stores in Southern California will donate proceeds directly to Hero Initiative from signings and drawings by featured creators. Social Media Release -- Los Angeles, CA (March 30, 2009): Hero Initiative will make available its first-ever limited edition Convention Sketchbook at the Emerald City Comicon in Seattle, WA on April 4th and 5th. The book features an original cover by legendary artist Tim Sale, well-known for his illustrations in Spider-Man: Blue, and Batman: The Long Halloween. The books retail for $20 each, and production is strictly limited to 200 hand-numbered copies. Artwork from 22 top artists is featured, including works from Dan Brereton, Mike Choi, Dave Johnson, Joseph Michael Linsner and Paul Smith. The Hero Initiative Emerald City Comicon Sketchbook will be available exclusively at Hero’s booth, #507 on the floor.
